Manabí is located about 200 kms west of Quito,
on the coastal plains of Ecuador. The town of El Carmen
is close to one of Ecuador's most famous ethnic groups,
the Tsáchila, locally known as the "Colorados".
El Carmen enjoys a tropical climate and is surrounded
by extensive banana plantations. Other tropical fruits,
such as papaya, babaco, lemon, are also typical of the
zone. |
